Frequently Asked Questions

What is an exercise physiologist?

An exercise physiologist is an allied health professional who specialises in the development of exercise programs to assist individuals in improving their overall health, managing chronic conditions, and enhancing physical performance. They use evidence-based practices to tailor programs to individual needs.

How is an exercise physiologist different from a personal trainer?

While both exercise physiologists and personal trainers work to improve physical fitness, exercise physiologists have advanced university training and education in the treatment and management of chronic diseases and medical conditions. They focus on clinical exercise interventions to improve health outcomes, whereas personal trainers typically focus on general fitness and performance goals.
